My problem is in another word ISSUE. Right now I have family problems. Right now my parents are getting a divorce. I feel sad. I feel I miss a special person which is my dad. So that is my issue right now.

I think that the best thing that you should do is at least talk to your dad still and keep in touch. Maybe you can stay over at his house sometimes and then when you are old enough, you can choose who you want to live with.

Why are parents so overprotective?

Dear Student in 6th Grade:
Parents may seem like they are overprotective. But they might be trying to help. Parents don't want to see you hurt. Your parents probably just want the best for you. You may not realize it now at the moment. I would try to talk to your parents and let them know you need more freedom but be aware that you have to show that you've earned it first.

There is this guy and I really like him. What should I do?

Think...does he have a girlfriend? If he has a girlfriend, wait until the relationship is over. At our age, relationships don't last long. So don't give up. If he doesn't have a girl, ask him out. Tell a friend to write him a note. You never know if he likes you back. Even if he says no, it's okay. Look around for other guys. Remember, guys can change their mind. Maybe he will like you later. In the meantime, maybe there's another guy who likes you more!

There's this guy I like and I told my best friend. I guess someone heard and told him. Anyways, I thought he was my friend and now he hates me. But I also want him to go out with me. I don't know what I should do. What do you think?

Maybe this guy is trying to hide the fact he likes you too. So ask him out if that's how you feel. But if he acts like he hates you, he's probably not worth the time. When guys find out you like them and they feel the same about you, sometimes they act like they hate you. It's easier for them to pretend hate than admit like. Wait a couple of weeks. Nobody will remember anything about this. By then, maybe the friendship can be repaired.
